You are invited to attend the 2022 Bolz Family Concert Series: Concert Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. This final concert of the year will provide quite a treat as it takes place inside the beautiful Hamel Music Center on the UW campus.
The Percussion Ensemble will present Balancing Light and Dark by Noah Eckstein and Concerto No. 2 for Marimba and Percussion Ensemble by Ney Rosauro (II. Reflections and Dreams and III. Walking on Clouds). The solo marimba will be played by the Youth Concerto Competition winner, Anais Griffith-Oh, who played this part in the competition. The Percussion Director is Vicki Jenks and Assistant Director is Dane Crozier.
The WYSO Concert Orchestra, conducted by Christine Mata Eckel, will begin with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Choral Prelude “Wachet auf, Ruft uns Die Stimme.” Second on the program will be “Jupiter-Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets by Gustav Holst (arr. Vernon Leidig), followed by Tales of Vandosar by Richard Meyer (ASCAP), Mazurka for Orchestra by Emil Młynarski, and “Polka” from Schwanda the Bagpiper by Jaromír Weinberger (arr. C. P. Arnell and K.W. Rokos).
