Social Media & Digital Content Coordinator

Part-Time | Approximately 20 hours/week – $40-$45/hour, depending on experience.
Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Position Summary

The Social Media & Digital Content Coordinator drives audience growth and engagement across WYSO’s digital platforms through compelling visual storytelling, community interaction, and data-informed creative decisions. This role produces distinctive content that showcases the WYSO student experience, highlights performances and community impact, and strengthens enrollment and fundraising initiatives.

This is a hands-on creative position, capturing footage and photography, editing short-form videos, writing copy, scheduling posts, and engaging directly with our online community. As WYSO continues its shift toward a digital-first communications strategy, this role will be central to how we share the WYSO story.

The position averages 20 hours per week, with priority placed on content creation and select event coverage. Evening and weekend work is required, particularly during concerts, recitals, and special events throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Publishing: Design and produce engaging multimedia content (images, videos, graphics, and written posts) for social media channels and digital platforms.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish posts across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Maintain a consistent publishing schedule across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Write polished, accessible, and engaging copy for posts and storytellingEnsure all content reflects the brand’s tone, style, and messaging guidelines.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content that highlights WYSO’s mission and student experience
  • Develop short-form video for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Build and maintain a content calendar informed by performances, enrollment cycles, and fundraising priorities
  • Produce content that includes clear and compelling calls to action

Community Engagement

  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and community interactions
  • Foster a positive and enthusiastic online atmosphere for students, families, alumni, donors, and partners
  • Encourage participation, sharing, and advocacy from supporters and partner organizations

Analytics & Optimization

  • Track basic performance metrics using platform-native tools
  • Adjust content style and timing to support organic reach and engagement
  • Identify emerging trends and platform features that can support WYSO’s goals

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Partner closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications to execute strategy and messaging
  • Work with Development to elevate donor stories and amplify campaign visibility
  • Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and designers as needed
  • Capture behind-the-scenes content at rehearsals and performances to support recruitment and programming visibility
  • Uphold youth safety standards, including permissions and content use policies

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Strong creative portfolio in short-form video and photography
  • Proficiency with social platforms and mobile-first editing tools
  • Excellent visual storytelling and copywriting skills
  • Ability to work efficiently during live, fast-paced arts events
  • Experience with or interest in learning light analytics

Work Environment & Additional Details

  • Hybrid work flexibility may be available; on-site presence required during key programming
  • Regular evening and weekend hours connected to concerts, recitals, and special events
  • Some local travel within the Madison area – reliable transportation is required. 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in social media management and/or digital creation is required.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management tools are required.
  • Strong graphic design and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of SEO, hashtags, and social media algorithms are required.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies are required.
  • Creativity and attention to detail is required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • A passion for music is preferred.
