Congratulations on your acceptance into a WYSO Orchestra for the 2023-2024 season!

Welcome to WYSO’s online Membership Registration form. Each member must complete a registration form. If you have more than one member in your household, you’ll need to complete this form, submit and then revisit the form page to complete and send another registration. (The information collected below is only accessed by WYSO staff and is not distributed to any outside parties). The 2023-2024 Season Registration deadline is Friday, July 21.

Please be prepared to include a short bio and photo of each WYSO member. These items will help our conductors identify members of their orchestra as the season begins.

WYSO 2023-24 Letter of Agreement

I. Attendance Policy (abridged)

• WYSO allows only two (2) absences during the first concert cycle, two (2) during the second cycle, and two (2) during the final cycle.
Regardless of the reason for my absence, if I am absent for more than the allotted number of rehearsals during a given concert cycle, a meeting will be scheduled with my conductor and the Director of Operations to discuss my future involvement in WYSO. The conductor may dismiss me from performing in the respective concert if I have exceeded the allowed absences. My conductor also may adjust seating assignments based on my attendance and punctuality. WYSO reserves the right to dismiss a member due to lack of commitment as demonstrated by attendance.
• Attendance is required at all WYSO orchestra and ensemble concerts in which you are expected to perform. An absence from a concert without reasonable excuse is probable cause for dismissal from the WYSO program.

II. School Participation (abridged)
• As a WYSO member, I am expected, and strongly encouraged, to participate in my school orchestra, band or strings program. Participation in scheduled activities of my school orchestra or band should always take precedence over WYSO.
Only occasionally do WYSO members opt not to participate in their school orchestra or band for a given year. In such cases, members are asked to email the Executive Director to state their reason for non-participation.

III. Musical Notes Fundraising Participation
• As a WYSO member, I am expected to participate in the Musical Notes Family Fundraising Campaign and meet the $150 fundraising goal through one or more of the fundraising options (online fundraising, letter writing, festival volunteering, raffle ticket sales, Practice-A-Thon, etc.). Gifts to the Musical Notes campaign help to fund all aspects of WYSO’s music programs.

IV. Payment of Tuition (Abridged)
• I understand that payment of tuition should be completed by Friday, August 11, 2023, OR in two installments postmarked by Friday, August 11 and Tuesday, September 5th, 2023. If this payment timetable does not fit my personal circumstances, I understand that I can set up a payment plan with WYSO prior to the first rehearsal in lieu of the above schedule. Any payment not made by its due date will incur a $50 late fee. Failure to pay the full balance of my tuition before the final concert could preclude me from performing.

2023-2024 WYSO Media Release*

2023-2024 media release:

Throughout the 2023-2024 concert season, musicians may be highlighted in efforts to promote the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras (WYSO) activities and achievements. For example, musicians may be featured in grant applications and/or increase public awareness of WYSO through newspapers, radio, TV, the web, DVDs, displays, brochures and other types of media.

• WYSO and its employees, representatives and authorized media organizations may print, photograph and record my child for use in audio, video, film, or any other electronic, digital and printed media.
• This is with the understanding that neither WYSO nor its representatives will reproduce said photograph, interview or likeness for any commercial value or receive monetary gain for use of any reproduction/broadcast of said photograph or likeness.
• Parents/Guardians will not receive monetary compensation for my child’s participation.

As of the 2023-2024 season, WYSO implemented an “opt-out” media procedure. This means that unless your child has a signed Opt-Out Media Release Form on file, your child’s photo/image/interview may be used in any of the prior stated media capacities.

If you do not wish to give permission for your child to be included in materials used for the above purposes, please download and submit the Opt-Out Media Release Form in your WYSO portal (to obtain the form via email, please email wyso@wysomusic.org). You do not need to complete the Opt-Out Media Release form if you wish to allow your child to participate in promotional efforts.

Parent Leader Committee (PLC): A volunteer body that supports several WYSO initiatives throughout the year such as organizing first rehearsal day, the Taste of WYSO, the Musical Notes fundraiser, and more.

Parent School Coordinators (PSC): Share information about WYSO activities and events with their child’s school or school district.

Photo Team: Captures images/videos of all aspects of the WYSO program from concerts to master classes and beyond. Photos are used for marketing, social media, grant applications and more. Photo Team members submit photos to the WYSO communications staff.
