The WYSO Youth Orchestra (and Friends), let by Maestro Kyle Knox, will play Boléro by Maurice Ravel, an iconic piece of classical music, on the King Street corner of Capitol Square at 6:30pm on June 21st, Make Music Madison Day. Maestro Knox calls this composition “the closest that we have in the ‘Classical’ tradition to pop music” and should sound familiar to even an occasional listener of the genre. The piece starts softly — the first few minutes are quite unobtrusive — before gradually building toward an epic climax, making it a great piece for a ‘flash mob’ style performance.
