Joachim Austin is a music composer and educator from Madison, Wisconsin. He earned his master’s and DMA in composition at UW-Madison working with Dr. Laura Schwendinger, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in music composition from Brigham Young University. His works have been featured in festivals from June in Buffalo to the Vienna Summer Music Festival, and he has worked with numerous professional ensembles including Mivos quartet, Duo Cortona, and the Brazil National Symphony Orchestra. He won first prize in composition in the 2023 UW-Madison Concerto Competition, as well as first place in the Mullen Sacred Music Competition for 2022.
