United States Navy Band Great Lakes Visit

WYSO is honored to welcome members of the United States Navy Band Great Lakes for a day of educational outreach, musical collaboration, and artistic inspiration.

Thanks to a special connection facilitated by WYSO supporter Bruce Matthews, Navy Band musicians will perform a short recital for the Youth Orchestra, followed by instrument-specific sectionals with WYSO woodwind, brass, and string players. These hands-on coaching sessions offer students the rare opportunity to learn directly from professional military musicians, whose careers blend artistic excellence with service to our country.

This visit is part of the Navy’s national outreach efforts and celebrates the Navy’s 250th anniversary by connecting communities through music. While not a recruiting event, the engagement highlights the many ways music can serve, inspire, and unite.

In addition to working with the Youth Orchestra, Navy musicians will also guest coach WYSO’s Lalita Honors Woodwind Quintet, offering mentorship to WYSO’s most advanced chamber musicians.
