Diane Ballweg Winterfest Concerts: Percussion Ensemble & Concert Orchestra

You are invited to attend the 2023 Diane Ballweg Winterfest Concert Series. With all five orchestras performing, as well as a performance by the Harp Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Philharmonia and Concert Orchestras Brass Choir, and the Youth Brass Choir there will be plenty of wonderful music for everyone.
This event is open to the public, and tickets are now available online. Tickets will also be available in-person 30 minutes before the concert.
Percussion Ensemble repertoire will include:
- Afro-Amero by Phil Faini (b. 1931)
- Firedance by Bill Whelan (b. 1950), Arr. Taras Nahirniak
About Percussion Ensemble
For over 50 years, the WYSO Percussion Ensemble has delighted audiences with its unique sound and energetic playing. Under the direction of Vicki Peterson Jenks, the Percussion Ensemble performs during regularly scheduled concerts and is also featured in the annual WYSO Percussion Extravaganza.
Concert Orchestra repertoire will include:
- Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega (1853-1909), Arr. Robert Bauernschmidt
- Dalton Set by Robert Starer (1924-2001)
- Rites of Tamburo by Robert W. Smith (ASCAP) (b. 1958)
- Selections from ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber (b. 1948), Arr. Calvin Custer
About Concert Orchestra
Concert Orchestra was founded in 1977 and performs music for full orchestra at the high school and advanced middle school level. Members of Concert Orchestra generally have two to three years of ensemble experience and perform individually at a standard high school or advanced middle school level. Concert Orchestra is conducted by Christine Mata Eckel.
